WSPTA Testifies before House for Budget Priorities

Washington State PTA President Janice Kutzera testified in front of the House Appropriations Committee today, January 13, on the opening day of the legislative session. Read her full testimony.

She spoke to HB 2325 Supplemental Operating Budget. President Kutzera asked the committee to support four budget priorities.

  1. Fund the additional 14 hours of training in “required standards” for paraeducators.
  2. Funding for behavioral health specialists at all nine ESDs.
  3. Fund $806,000 to cover dyslexia screening.
  4. Expand funding for the Education Ombuds to expand family-school collaboration and outreach.
