Call to Action – Focus on Dismantling Racism

Dear Washington State PTA Member,

On this day when we honor the work and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., WSPTA recognizes that racism is not new and has harmed communities of color for centuries. In October 2021, our membership overwhelmingly voted to not only take a stand against institutional racism, but to take the hard steps and look inward at our own contributions and practices.

We’re asking you to begin those steps by contacting your legislators today. You can customize the message, especially if you have a personal story to share. Please encourage other members of your PTA to participate today too.

Please write your legislators and encourage your friends and community members to take a few minutes to speak up for kids. Add your personal request or story into the accompanying message provided in the Action Network link. Legislators have told us that hearing your personal touch makes a huge impact.

Visit our website for more information on WSPTA’s legislative priorities. If you would like to receive WSPTA Action Alerts directly, please sign up for the Action Network here.

Thank you for advocating for the 1.1 million students of Washington giving them the opportunity to reach their highest potential.

Thank you,

Lizzy Sebring, WSPTA Advocacy Director
