The Awards of Excellence Program recognizes local PTAs, community PTAs, and councils whose level of effort in specific areas help them make a difference in their communities.The Awards of Excellence committee has been working hard to update the awards information and judging rubric based on feedback we received through surveys. Please see below for some changes for the 2025-2026 submission year.
Family and Community Engagement (F.A.C.E.), Diversity, Inclusion & Outreach (D.I.O.), and Advocacy Awards:
- These awards are for ONE event, program or activity only.
- Questions were removed and adjusted allowing for an easier submission process.
Outstanding Communication Strategy Award:
- New Platinum level!
- 15 different types of communication.
- All submitted items must have “PTA” on them.
- Examples should be a “live” example. For example, a picture of a sign/flyer on display is perfect. A PDF of the sign/flyer will not receive points.
- All submitted examples should be labeled how they were communicated/sent out/used.
Outstanding Newsletter Award:
- New Platinum level!
- Overall content was reduced to align with what PTAs and councils publish in their newsletters.
- Links to other items included in your newsletter will be accepted where asked, IF the links are clearly marked where the link will take you.
- FOUR newsletters ONLY.
- Each newsletter must be from a different month. Only one per month.
- If your PTA/council publishes multiple newsletters per month, your PTA/council should submit the newsletters that best meets all the judging requirements.
Outstanding Website Award:
- New Platinum level!
- Links without additional information will receive one point, where stated.
- Overall content was reduced to align with what PTAs and councils publish on their websites.
Standards of Excellence Award:
- Links will not be accepted for any submission examples.
- Provide narratives when suggested.
- WSPTA Training Tracking spreadsheet will be the only form accepted, where asked.
- Normal level – Financial – Both Local PTAs & Council:
- Monthly financial reports were provided to the board of directors and/or membership.
- Upload two different examples (2 separate months) of proof that your board of directors received monthly financial reports. Examples could include meeting minutes, or emails.
- Upload four copies of your PTAs/councils completed WSPTA Non-signer Review of Financial Statements form, if applicable.
- Platinum level – Membership – Local PTA Award:
- Upload proof that your PTA received a membership growth award from WSPTA in 2025.
- Platinum level – Membership – Council Award:
- Upload proof that at least 5 of your council’s local PTAs received membership growth awards from WSPTA in 2025. If you are a smaller council with 10 or less PTAs, upload proof of 2 PTAs receiving awards. Examples can be emails from WSPTA to the local PTAs.
