Awards of Excellence


 

Local PTA and Council Awards of ExcellenceThe Local PTA and Council Awards of Excellence Program recognizes local PTAs, community PTAs, and councils whose level of effort in specific areas help them make a difference in their community. To participate in the Local PTA and Council Awards of Excellence Program, the PTA or council must meet the following standards:

  • Be in compliance with the requirements of the Standards of Affiliation (SOA). If the PTA or council was chosen for periodic review, all requirements must be in order.
  • The PTA must be up to date on membership dues payments to WSPTA.
  • The PTA must have at least 25 paid members (or an approved waiver) by October 31.
  • The PTA or council must have a president identified in the WSPTA membership database.

Local PTAs, community PTAs, or councils may apply for the following awards:

Advocacy Award of Excellence

The purpose of this award is to promote advocacy at local PTAs, community PTAs, and councils by recognizing programs, projects, and activities/events that increase awareness of and participation in advocacy issues at the school, local community, council, region, state, and national level. What does advocacy mean to your local PTA or council?

Family and Community Engagement Award of Excellence

The purpose of this award is to promote family and community engagement at local PTAs, community PTAs, and councils by recognizing programs, projects, and activities/events that increase family and community engagement and involvement. What does family and community engagement look like at your local PTA or council?

Outstanding Communication Strategy

The Outstanding Communications Strategy Award recognizes local PTA and council use of all forms of communication. Use of multiple forms of communication is important in reaching all of the membership and/or community served.

Outstanding Newsletter

The Outstanding Newsletter recognizes local PTA and council newsletters as they are an important and effective form of communication.

The Outstanding Website Award recognizes local PTA and council websites as effective forms of communication.

PTAs Taking Significant Action

The purpose of the PTAs Taking Significant Action Award is to recognize the accomplishments of local PTAs and councils across the state that present programs, projects, and activities that show significant originality, involvement, potential, usefulness and results. These programs are things that other PTAs and councils may want to replicate.

Standards of Excellence

The Standards of Excellence Award is a tool to encourage the use of the best practices of PTA management. If your local PTA or council has not participated in awards, the Standards of Excellence is a great place to start. Participating in the Standards of Excellence could be used as a reporting tool to your members.

2020-2021 Submittal Process

**All new for 2020-2021 submissions**

Steps in the Submission Process

Step 1:     Download the applicable Award of Excellence PDF with the details for the award. This is for your information only. Do not submit the PDF as part of your entry.

Step 2:     Submit the applicable award specific online form with your contact information to receive your unique Dropbox link for uploading all supporting materials.

Step 3:     Upload all required files within 48 hours of receipt of your unique Dropbox link. All documents must be received no later than March 17, 2021. All uploaded documents must follow the naming protocol to receive credit. That is the section number followed by the item number and then the name of the file (e.g. 1.7.Budget)

Deadlines

  • Complete and submit the online form no later than March 15, 2021.
  • Receive a unique Dropbox link to upload your final proposal within two days of submitting this form.
  • Upload your final proposal no later than March 17, 2021, after receiving a unique Dropbox link.
