Frequently Asked Questions

Where is August Leadership Launch being held?

We know that this is a crazy time of year for leaders, so this is a remote event for registrants to attend from the comfort of their own homes. While the Whova online app works well for networking, visiting with vendors and watching recorded materials, we do recommend a larger screen with a stable internet connection to participate in live classes.

Who should attend?

This year’s focus will be on position-specific training, the practical how-to’s of running your PTA, roundtables, and networking geared specifically for our new leaders or leaders new to a position. Veteran leaders are always welcome to join us for a refresher on some of our basic classes if interested.

Will PTA and the Law be a class option?

Yes! We are happy to be able to offer PTA & the Law class during the August Leadership Launch. PTA & the Law is scheduled for Saturday, August 9, 9:00 AM – 12:30 PM.  Please note the PTA & the Law session will not be recorded.

Why isn't PTA and the Law Recorded?

PTA and the Law is the single most important class for PTA leaders. Our dedicated volunteer committee frequently works to update this content to make sure the information shared is as accurate as possible. A recording would not be “evergreen” and we feel strongly that there is value in taking this class live and hearing questions from fellow PTA leaders. If your schedule does not allow for you to attend this session of PTA and the Law, remember that we offer this as a webinar throughout the school year for free at varying times to accommodate schedules.

What recorded content is available and when?

All classes will be recorded with the exception of PTA and the Law. All recordings will be posted as soon as possible after their presentation, and will be available until noon on September 9, 2025. We also do not record roundtables, meetups or classes with student presenters who are under the age of 18.

How can I purchase at the early bird price when our PTA budget doesn't start until July 1?

If your PTA has unspent funds in it’s state training line from the current fiscal year, they may be used on this.

or

If you haven’t had your last general meeting of the year, you can ask membership to approve payment from this year’s budget.

or

If PTA leaders will be purchasing tickets and then being reimbursed, they can hold onto their receipt and submit it in July.

Why is the date so early this year?

For the past two years, we’ve asked in our event survey if the last weekend in August was the right date for this event. After reviewing the responses, it seems that a majority of participants would prefer this be offered earlier in the summer. We are listening to this feedback and will continue to use the survey and participant feedback to guide our planning decisions.
