Region 5
WSPTA's Region 5 consists of the Bethel, Carbonado, Dieringer, Eatonville, Fife, Franklin Pierce, Orting, Puyallup, Sumner and White River School Districts in Pierce County and the Enumclaw School District in King County.
Region Director Message
My name is Moneika Rupert and I am our new Region 5 Director. I am excited
to get to know as many of you as I can over the next two years. I have been an
active PTA member since 1995 when my oldest was in first grade and we got
our first computer. Naturally having a new computer, I began my PTA career as
the newsletter chairperson. I have had many PTA jobs, including being on our
Region 5 Service Delivery Team for 3 years.
You will learn that my main goal as our new region director is to make sure
that all of our PTA’s in Region 5 participate in the many conferences and
trainings that are offered by our WA State PTA. We need to change our thinking
from training being “optional.” Trainings from the state are the valuable key to
keeping our PTA’s in alignment with the rules & guidelines established by our
State PTA. At many of the trainings and conferences we learn what is expected
of all non-profit organizations from the Secretary of the State of Washington. I
have attended some of our classes 4 times and I still hear something new at
each one. Different presenters touch a point that I missed at a previous class.
Each of us, as new local unit board of directors, needs to take a look at our
budgets and make sure that we have allotted enough money to attend our
region conferences, and to send as many people that can attend to the
Legislative Assembly and to the Annual WA State PTA Convention the end of
April -beginning of May.
Remember that if you have any questions, please call myself or someone from
your area that is represented on our Region Service Delivery Team. We are all
listed to the left of this note. There are a couple of positions that are still open
and need someone to help us out. If you are interested in being on our team,
please call me and we can talk about the expectations.
