Region Director Message
As our PTA year comes to a close, I look back at my time spent on the Regions Service Delivery Team and see all the wonderful accomplishments that our region, under the direction of Cathy Christensen, was able to attain. I am proud to have had the opportunity to help, in even the smallest of ways. As they say, "When one door closes another one opens." As we close the door on the 2009-2010 year, let us crack open the door to the 2010-2011 year. The new year for our PTA’s are again at their starting points & I too am at a new starting point.
I begin as your Region Director by asking myself some questions that I hope all of you will take a moment to ask yourselves:
What worked well?
What didn’t work well?
Was I able to meet my goals?
What points would I like to build on, change or improve?
What points should be replaced or shelved?
Do not limit your answers to Local Unit level alone, apply these questions to the Region, State and even National levels as well. Let these thoughts and ideas be the guide by which you set your goals. Share your ideas with your peers, board members and your Region Service Delivery Team. You might be surprised how many people have the same priorities and how easy they are to accomplish when we all work together.
The most important aspect of working together is communication. Good communication is the key for success. To be sure of that success, your region SDT & I must have the ability to get in contact with all of you. Go to the WSPTA website and register your new board members as soon as possible. Also make sure that all returning board member’s information is correct and add information for your membership, legislative, and other committee chairs. This will ensure they will get the important information they need to do their jobs to the best of their abilities.
Thank you for all the time you volunteer on behalf of PTA. I am excited to see what this year will hold and to work with you in making each of Region 4’s local units shine even brighter.
