Programs To Go
Washington State PTA is offering a series of successful PTA programs for you to “pick up” and use at your PTA.
These programs come to you already organized, with minimal work on your part. Guidelines are presented in simple publications with straight-forward suggestions for implementing your program.
The Teddy Bear Patrol / Fuzzy Friends
The Teddy Bear Patrol and Fuzzy Friends Programs are designed to help children cope with traumatic situations. In these programs, PTAs collect new, soft, teddy bears about 12” tall, that will be distributed to hospitals, ambulances, fi re departments, police departments and other emergency care providers..

Humanitarian Outreach Program
The Humanitarian Outreach Program involves PTAs and school children in collecting items needed by children in developing nations and shipping those items overseas to be distributed by local humanitarians.

Read-A-Thon
Reading ability is vital to the academic success of our children. Literacy needs to be a priority not only in our schools, but in our entire community. Kids need to read more and enjoy reading. “Around the World in Thirty Days” read-a-thon program does all that and more.

Parents on Patrol
In this program, parents and senior citizens patrol school grounds whenever children are outside — recesses, lunch, and before and after school.

Block Watch
Block Watch is a three-part neighbors-helping-neighbors program, which takes very little time, and no money. Residents are trained to recognize and report suspicious activities around their own and their neighbors’ homes.
