DESCRIPTION:Each year your PTA should file either Form 990\, Form 990-EZ\, or Form 990-N\, dependent upon your financial circumstances for the tax year (fiscal year) ending June 30. Every PTA must file something with the IRS. \n\nIf your PTA’s average gross receipts are under $50\,000\, complete IRS Form 990-N (e-postcard).\nIf your PTA’s gross receipts are over $50\,000 but under $200\,000\, complete IRS Form 990-EZ.\nIf your PTA’s gross receipts are over $200\,000\, complete IRS Form 990.\n\nThe IRS will suspend the status of organizations that have failed to file a 990-series return for three consecutive years; these PTAs will automatically lose their tax-exempt status. DESCRIPTION:For PTA/PTSA/councils registered with the Department of Revenue\, your PTA/PTSA/council must file a return even if your PTA did not have business activity. If your PTA/PTSA/council had any taxable-type sales\, you may file the Sales Tax Remittance Return if your PTA’s gross business activity totaled less than $28\,000 and you owe less than $2\,000 retail sales tax. \nIf your PTA/PTSA/council does not meet the above criteria\, visit the Washington Department of Revenue webpage to download the appropriate return for your PTA/PTSA/council’s tax classification. \nIf you do not know the amount of Retail Sales Tax due\, take your taxable retail sales and multiply by the combined sales tax rate for your location. For sales tax rates\, visit the Department of Revenue website and click on Find Taxes and Rates.

SUMMARY:At-Large Nominating Committee Applications Due February 15\, 2018
DESCRIPTION:During the 2018 Convention of the Washington State PTA\, May 18-20\, 2018\, at the Vancouver Hilton\, three nominating committee at-large positions will be elected for a two-year term. It is the responsibility and privilege of PTA members to consider the qualifications they could bring to this important committee and to submit their name for consideration. \nSelf-declared nominations to the WSPTA nominating committee are due February 15\, 2018 by midnight. The online nomination form is available here. \nCandidates who wish to self-declare for election to one of these positions must be a member of a local PTA for at least 30 days prior to their election to the nominating committee and may not serve more than one consecutive term on the WSPTA nominating committee.
