Sunday Class Descriptions


Registering for specific class sessions is important for estimating class size. When you register, be sure to sign up for both part one and part two of any two-part classes. Once onsite you may attend any class with space available.

Building Your Fall Membership Campaign (Part 1)

Topic: Membership

Roll up your sleeves and start planning your fall membership drive! You’ll leave this class with an actual three-month calendar personalized with your PTA’s membership action plan. Discuss membership forms, expectations of board members, event logistics, contests and incentive programs, membership discounts, getting students excited about membership, and much more! Don’t forget to sign up for both parts of this workshop.

Effective Budgets and Financial Strategies

Building a goal-based budget is key to the success of PTAs. Learn how to assess your PTA’s financial management practices and how to develop and amend budgets. Please note: topics discussed in this class are not covered in the class “Managing Your Nonprofit PTA: The Financial Responsibilities of Board Members.”

Dealing with Conflict as a Leader, Part 1

Face issues head-on with improved awareness of individual differences and opinions. Take targeted action for more beneficial outcomes, practice problem-solving and conflict management skills; improve your listening and speaking in conflict situations; and gain techniques for resolving conflicts as they arise in all areas of volunteer, work, and home life. Topic: PTA

From start to finish, this class will guide you through your most important jobs as a president. We’ll discuss building and leading your team, chairing meetings, communication, legal compliance, and how to develop relationships that will allow your PTA to work collaboratively with your school administration and community leaders. Don’t forget to sign up for both parts of this workshop.

PTA and the Law deals with state and federal rules and regulations relevant to running a charitable, tax-exempt, nonprofit corporation in the State of Washington and will explain how these rules impact your PTA. Must be present in both class sessions to get credit. Must register for both class sessions.
