I am very excited to be your Secretary! I will always bring an open mind and open heart to all of my duties. I look forward to an open exchange of ideas and I will have the highest regard for my fellow board members, as well as all members of PTA.
I have been actively involved in PTA at the local, council and state levels for the past 10 years. At the local level, I have served as PTA President and Secretary, and numerous committee chair positions. At the Council level, I just finished a 7-year period on the Lake Washington PTSA Council serving in various leadership positions. I have also served on the Region 2 Service Delivery Team for three years. In addition to my service in PTA, I volunteer at Inglewood Junior High School, and serves on its Coalition for Essential Schools committee.
I’ve been in advertising and marketing for many years. So, for me, it made sense to gravitate towards the Secretarial and Communications areas of PTA. Secretly, it probably had a bit to do with all of the office supplies that would be involved!!! My closest friends will tell you that my favorite place to shop is… STAPLES! (Now if Staples just sold shoes that would truly be heaven on earth!) I knew the habit was bad when my 13-year-old daughter drew one of their big, red “EASY” buttons and put it on my office door!
Outside of PTA, I’m married to Scott, the greatest husband ever, and I am my kids’ mom. Dan is 25 and lives in Utah. Veronica is 13 and keeps me very busy! My mother has lived with us for the past 10 years and that has been a huge blessing for the entire family. I am very proud to be a stay-home mom now. This has afforded me the time to get involved in PTA. I worked full-time when my son was in elementary school. So, I feel like I am finally able to give back to all of those wonderful PTA moms that were working on behalf of my child!
