Tricia Woods
WSPTA Region 5 Director
I didn’t grow up in a PTA family, but I did have a family who participated in school events and volunteered for anything we kids asked. I didn’t know anything about PTA, until my son was in 2nd grade and I was talking with the principal about the parking issue at the school and she said that the PTA president was going to be taking care of this problem. So, I then asked the president what she was doing and she didn’t know anything about it, but we then moved on to talk about why I should join PTA.

The president proceeded to ask me if I would like to do the financial review and I said sure, what’s that?? Then I went on to become the treasurer. My first year wasn’t so great, but I certainly didn’t allow that to keep me from continuing on. I went on to fulfill other positions like fundraiser chair, vp, legislative chair, and co-president.

I have only been in PTA for going on my 5th year, but I have certainly been involved every turn I can. I attend every conference, PTA & The Law, and this year was my first convention. I have truly enjoyed working with the people I have met along the way. I am not sure where I will go when the Region Director job is completed, but I am certainly going to enjoy the journey.

I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Services with a minor in Ethnic Studies and an AA in general studies. I was a volunteer Guardian Ad Liteum for 10 years through Pierce County Ramon Hall and I worked in family services in Head Start. My husband Tony and I, will be celebrating 13 years of marriage this September, we have 2 children, Cohen age 11 and Salyna age 8. Both of them have been to many PTA functions and meetings. They are always asking what is next and how they can help. They have been to the state office to help as well.

Well, that sums up a little about me.
Thanks!!
