Maria Santiago

Maria R. Santiago born and raised in Salinas Valley California daughter of migrant farm workers originally from Michoacán Mexico. She married her husband at the age of 15 who is from Oaxaca México. Moved to Seattle in 1994 with husband and son. She graduated Mt. Rainier High school in 97 at 21yrs. old with 2 children. Graduated South Seattle Community College from the Cosmetology program in 2004. She is a Commissioned Lay Pastor with Seattle Presbytery and is active in several leadership positions at her local church, a Trusted Advocate for the Latinos and White Center Community where she has had the opportunity to teach Resident Leadership & Facilitating Workshops and has also been in a forum for Cultural Competency. Volunteer with Health Promoter Program with King County Public Health. Currently serves on the Highline School District PTSA Council as Evergreen Area Vice President and Region Outreach Director for the Washington State PTA. She works at the small school of Arts & Academics Academy in the Evergreen High school as Family Liaison/ Para Educator and has been a teacher and organizer for Several Parent Programs at the local schools and District level in the past 6 years and also has 4 children Son 18, son 14, daughter (princess)9, and son 3.
