Shelley Kloba
WSPTA Legislative Director
I consider myself so fortunate to be able to serve on the Board of Directors of the largest child advocacy organization in the state of Washington. I grew up in Illinois but for the past 20 years I have called the Puget Sound my home. I am a mom, a wife, a health care provider, a trustee with our local schools foundation, a levy committee volunteer, a member of the Kirkland Park Board, a member of the Community Advisory Board at our local hospital, and an avid cyclist. I have been a legislation chair at my daughter’s school since she was in first grade. I served as co-legislation chair for Lake Washington PTSA Council and got introduced to PTA members state-wide when I served as Focus Day co-chair in 2009. I love my adopted home and want to do everything I can to support our Washington State PTA vision of making every child’s potential a reality.

Volunteering with the PTA at various levels has been both challenging and rewarding. My husband of 22 years and our 13 year-old daughter have been very supportive (and tolerant!) of the time I have spent volunteering in our community, and I am so grateful for that. I encourage each one of you to get involved at whatever level you can, and then take advantage of all the training and leadership opportunities that are offered to you. You will learn so much and the experiences you have will enrich your life in ways you could never anticipate.

My goal as legislative director is to bring together the diverse voices of our members, provide the tools they need to be successful advocates, and empower them to speak up when it comes to how public policy affects their children, their school, and their community. Decision-makers need to hear their unique perspective.
